Shipping and carrier integration

Shoppers in France generally have a favourite relay point in mind already and expect to pick it from a map, not to describe it in the order notes. Meanwhile somebody in despatch is retyping addresses into a carrier website, producing labels one after another and pasting references into emails. Joining those two halves gives the buyer an honest price and the collection point they wanted, while a whole morning of labels emerges from one command.

Where this service reaches

Two or three networks is the usual arrangement. Buyers keep a genuine choice, and one carrier having a difficult fortnight never becomes your problem alone.

Put your scope to an engineer

Networks

Colissimo and Chronopost, Mondial Relay and Relais Colis for collection points, Colis Privé, DPD and GLS to the door, taken directly or behind a franking platform.

Carriage priced at checkout

A figure derived from weight, bulk and the method chosen, quoted before the buyer starts typing an address rather than sprung on them at the final screen.

Relay point map

A widget listing points nearest whatever address was entered, with distance and opening times, storing the selection against the order.

Labels by the batch

One command produces labels for everything paid for, on thermal stock or A6, along with the accompanying carrier paperwork.

Awkward and heavy goods

Separate handling for oversized or weighty consignments, appointment deliveries, and the wording about inspecting goods on receipt that fragile items deserve.

Status and notification

The consignment reference joins both the order and the message to the buyer, and a completed delivery closes the order without anyone clicking.

Returns

Buyers generate their own return label from an order reference, so despatch sees what is heading back long before it lands on the bench.

The way an engagement runs

Attaching a network is a modest slice of the effort. The bulk of the time goes on populating weights and measurements and then constructing the carriage table.

01

Study what you send

Past orders reveal shapes, the proportion going to relay points and the volume crossing borders; your existing carrier agreements are read at the same moment.

02

Contracts and credentials

Technical access from each network, or one franking account if a single screen appeals more than several logins.

03

Set it up

Measurements against articles, packing logic, the threshold at which carriage is waived and the supplements bulky items attract.

04

Send trial parcels

Genuine consignments go out through each network and are followed the whole way, from label produced to delivery confirmed.

Carriage is guesswork until every article carries a weight and a size. A default value takes over, the buyer is charged EUR 5.90, and a bulk supplement lands on your account weeks afterwards. Worse still, an oversized carton fits no locker in the relay network and turns round for home. Which is why measurements go into the catalogue before launch instead of after the first argument.

Questions and answers

Two or three cover almost every case: a relay network, which a large share of buyers prefer anyway, a delivery to the door, and perhaps an express choice for the impatient. Longer lists seldom sell more; they slow the buyer down and make packing more complicated than it needs to be.

A platform means one screen, one bill and workable rates while volumes stay small. Dealing directly with Colissimo, Chronopost or DPD starts paying once volumes rise or a particular requirement appears, a fixed daily collection being the classic example.

Setting the rule is trivial; arriving at the number is not. Average basket, margin and the true cost of a consignment decide it together, so that waived carriage persuades somebody to add a second article rather than quietly consuming what you earned.

Neither, at any point. Software and configuration are the whole of our contribution, performed remotely. Packing and handover stay with your despatch team or your fulfilment partner; our concern is that labels, references and delivery states move by themselves.

Tidy up despatch

Describe the goods leaving your door, the daily parcel count and the networks you work with. A checkout arrangement and a labelling routine come back.
