PC clean-up and malware removal

The question we are asked is rarely how to clean a machine up. It is whether the machine is still worth keeping. We prefer to answer that with measurements rather than a hunch. One ordinary working day of observation usually separates three very different situations: a spinning disk near the end of its life, memory swallowed by a browser left open since Monday, and a layer of unwanted software that nobody chose to install. Each calls for a different fix and a different budget. All of it happens remotely, inside a session your colleague opens and closes.

Where this service reaches

A reading comes first on every machine. Cleaning before you know which resource is pinned is guesswork dressed up as work.

Put your scope to an engineer

Performance reading

An agent watches one ordinary day of work and notes each moment the processor, the memory or the disk hits its ceiling. The cause is usually dull: a whole department syncing OneDrive at nine, or antivirus reading a large mailbox from end to end.

Browser and add-ons

Two profiles, fifteen extensions, push alerts from sites nobody trusts and a home page that arrived uninvited. Whatever earns its place stays; the rest goes, with the user watching rather than behind their back.

Start-up programs

Printer driver updaters, a second chat client, tuning utilities that all fire at once when the session opens. We switch them off instead of uninstalling blind.

Malicious software

Adware, bogus PDF readers, coin miners and the attachment that arrived dressed as an invoice. Afterwards we tune Microsoft Defender so the next attempt is stopped without us.

System disk and profile

A desktop used as a photo library, forgotten installers in Downloads, temporary files that have filled the system volume. We tidy up and move the data somewhere it is actually backed up.

Repair or replace

Where the reading points at hardware, an SSD or a memory upgrade is costed against a replacement machine and you decide. Your reseller or one of your own people fits the part from our written steps; everything on the software side remains ours.

The way an engagement runs

Without a managed services contract the rate is EUR 95 an hour excluding VAT, and how long it runs follows the condition the machine is genuinely in.

01

Your message

Three or four lines are plenty: the machine in question, what has become slow, and roughly when it began.

02

Measurement

One link, opened by the user, and the agent quietly gathers figures for the rest of the day. Nobody is looking over anyone's shoulder.

03

The work

We agree a slot that does not get in the way, often the lunch break, and work with the screen shared.

04

Written result

Boot time, memory in use, how long a typical file takes to open: the same readings as at the start, placed next to each other.

A brand new laptop that inherits the old mess is slow again within six months. Copying a profile across as-is carries the doubtful extensions, the three updaters and the tuning tool that shows one advert a day. So even when a replacement has been decided, we start with the sorting: only data and genuinely used software travel to the new machine.

Questions and answers

When the figures show the processor idling while a mechanical disk catches up, few purchases pay back faster: start-up and application launches move into another league for a fraction of a replacement. The same upgrade is pointless on a machine with 4 GB soldered to the board, or one whose processor will never accept Windows 11. We say which of the two you are holding, and the second kind joins the renewal list.

Pull the network cable or switch the Wi-Fi off, leave the power on, and write to us. From here we rotate credentials, kill the active Microsoft 365 sign-ins, run several independent scanners and look hard at what may have travelled outwards. Where personal data may have escaped, we help you judge whether the CNIL has to be told within 72 hours and whether the incident belongs with CERT-FR.

No. Nothing starts until the person at the keyboard accepts the invitation; the whole session is on their screen and one click ends it. Our work is in settings and installed software, not in your files, and every connection leaves a record on the ticket.

We do. For a private customer a remote session begins at EUR 59 including VAT: one small program to install, then you watch the screen while the machine is examined and cleaned. Any further working time is charged at EUR 99 an hour including VAT.

Which machines have become painful to use?

Two or three sentences are enough: how many computers, what they do wrong, and roughly since when. We answer with a slot for the measurement.
